About

"If you love what you do, you are already successful"

Claire has always loved the notion that a moment in time can be captured and saved forever in a photograph. But for her it is more than a record of time and place; it is the sense of connection to the landscape felt during that moment that makes the memory, and that's what she captures in her work.

Having moved back to Oxfordshire after more than a decade in London studying biology and statistics, and working as a cancer researcher, in April 2017 she purchased her first mirrorless camera, and happily used it on full auto with its kit lens for a short while. But then her passion and fascination with photography took over, and Claire hasn’t stopped practising and learning more about the technical and creative elements of the art since.

Always aiming to progress her image-making has brought her to where she is on her personal trajectory.

Claire adores the British landscape in all seasons, particularly the magical feuille morte colours of the Lake District and Scotland. She tries to spend her time making her images more subtle than they used to be, quietly observing the natural light changing the colour palette of the countryside. She loves planning time away with her camera; hiking, finding compositions, experimenting with different techniques and bringing her images alive during processing. Claire is very much enjoying working photographically closer to home in recent months, exploring the rivers of Oxfordshire.

Claire maintains her full-time post at the University of Oxford as an oncology researcher but balances this with time spent with her camera.
